DES PLAINES, IL. – Onesti Entertainment Corp. in partnership with the National Italian American Sport Hall of Fame will celebrate the life and career of professional boxer, Rocky Marciano on November 28, 2023 at the Des Plaines Theatre with a special event: “Marciano At 100: A Celebration of Rocky Marciano’s 100th Birthday.”

“I’m proud to celebrate this great Italian American’s tremendous career and spotlight the accomplishments of this remarkable athlete,” said Ron Onesti, President and CEO of Onesti Entertainment Corp. and operator of the newly renovated Des Plaines Theatre, which re-opened its doors as a live event venue in 2021. “I hope that this venue can host events for people of all cultures for many years to come.”

The event will feature a screening of the 1976 film Marciano. Star of the film Tony Lobianco will take part in a question-and-answer panel following the screening. Attendees will also have an opportunity to view Marciano’s 1952 championship belt.

Rocco Francis Marchegiano, better known as Rocky Marciano, was an Italian American professional boxer who held the world heavyweight title from 1952 to 1956. He is the only heavyweight champion to finish his career undefeated with a record of 49-0. ESPN ranked Marciano as the 5th highest ranked heavyweight boxer of all-time.
