ST. CHARLES, IL — The historic Arcada Theatre has plans to proudly celebrate its 100th Anniversary on September 6, 2026, marking a century of unforgettable entertainment, community memories, and cultural significance in downtown St. Charles. Originally opening its doors on September 6, 1926, the Arcada Theatre quickly became one of the Midwest’s premier entertainment destinations, showcasing silent films, vaudeville performances, and some of the era’s most celebrated entertainers. Over the past century, the venue has evolved into an entertainment mecca while preserving its historic charm and architectural beauty.
To commemorate this milestone, the Arcada Theatre will host a Centennial Celebration featuring special events, entertainment, community activities, and a historic parade through downtown St. Charles. The celebration will honor the generations of performers, patrons, staff, and community members who have helped make the Arcada a treasured landmark for 100 years. Plans announced for the centennial include festivities beginning in the afternoon and a downtown parade celebrating the theater’s remarkable legacy. There will be several celebrity appearances including Chubby Checker and Priscilla Presley and others to be announced soon.
There will also be a special exhibit devoted to the historic theatre curated in the front windows of the St. Charles Municipal Building across the street from the theatre.
President & CEO of the Arcada Theatre and Onesti Entertainment, Ron Onesti, has also been bestowing “Arcada Theatre Legacy Awards” to those musicians who have played an integral role in the theatre’s heritage. Those bands that keep making the Arcada Theatre a “must-play” venue on their tours will be presented this award on stage in front of fans.

Built by Lester and Dellora Norris and designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style, the Arcada has remained a centerpiece of the Fox Valley arts and entertainment scene. From its grand opening before sold-out crowds in 1926 to its current status as a nationally recognized live entertainment destination, the theater has remained a symbol of resilience, creativity, and community pride.
