Bourbon ‘N Brass: Delta Blues Nite with Downtown Charlie Brown, Donna Herula, and John Primer

Celebrate the Delta Blues with an all-star musical lineup including Downtown Charie Brown Band, Donna Herula, and John Primer. Delta Blues is one of the earliest-known styles of blues., originating in the Mississippi Delta. Guitar and harmonica are its dominant instruments; slide guitar is a hallmark of the style. Although Delta Blues existed in some form or another at the turn of the twentieth century, it was first recorded in the late 1920s, making this celebration of the Delta Blues a perfect fit for the Arcada Theatre which was built in 1926.
The Downtown Charlie Brown Blues Band, a Chicagoland favorite, is one of the hottest blues bands in the area. The phenomenal voice of Dee Dee Hardy and rugged bluesy voice of Charlie Brown keep the house rocking all night long. Musical influences are Muddy Waters, Robert Johnson, Billie Holiday, Howlin’ Wolf, Pine Top Perkins, Sarah Vaughan, Aretha Franklin and others.
Donna Herula, 2022 Independent Blues Award Winner and 2021 Blues Artist of the Year in Doc’s Blues Awards, is a Chicago-born blues singer, songwriter, and slide guitarist that has a passion for playing traditional Delta Blues, early Chicago Blues, Folk, Americana, and Roots music. Using electrified resonator guitars, her sound combines her love for the music of the Deep South and Chicago with her love of blues guitar improvisation.
John Primer is a 3-time Grammy nominee and winner of the 2023 Blues Foundation Blues Music Award Winner. Primer was the bandleader and guitarist for Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon and Magic Slim & The Teardrops. Having played or recorded with a who’s who of blues greats including Junior Wells, Gary Clark Jr., Derek Trucks, Johnny Winter, The Rolling Stones and Buddy Guy to name a few.
This is a free event, but a 2-drink or equivalent minimum is required. Food and hand-crafted cocktails are available for purchase. No RSVP required. Seating is first-come, first-seated.
