CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION: SILENT FILM SCREENING
August 9 @ 2:00 pm
On August 9, 1925 the Des Plaines Theatre opened with a screening of “Are Parents People”. We will be re-creating the grand opening with a showing of that very silent film – 100 years later – for JUST 25 cents! No RSVP needed and payment will be collected upon entry. Doors to theatre will open at 1PM with the film beginning at 2PM. Concessions, including ice cream cones for a nickel, will be available for purchase.
Are Parents People is about the teenage daughter of a wealthy couple is horrified to find out that her parents, who spend most of their time fighting with each other, are planning to divorce. She schemes to get them back together by pretending to fall for a dimwitted actor, hoping that her parents will unite to prevent the “romance”.
